The Co-operative Bank headquarters in Shimla has handed the investigation of the multi-crore rupee scam at the Nohradhar branch in Sirmaur to the CBI, media reports say.
Seven employees have been suspended, and show-cause notices issued to ten others. Several employees have been transferred, and a detailed departmental investigation has been ordered.
Managing Director Shravan Manta condemned the fraud as a betrayal, emphasizing severe consequences for those found guilty. The CBI’s involvement is expected to uncover the full extent of the scam.
