Presenting the State Budget for 2025–26, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a series of farmer-centric measures aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and boosting the agricultural economy.

The government increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for maize grown through natural farming from Rs 30 to Rs 40 per kg, and for wheat from Rs 40 to Rs 60 per kg. Farmers transporting produce beyond 2 km to notified collection centres will receive a freight subsidy of Rs 2 per kg.

The state will also connect farmers to e-commerce platforms and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) to ensure better market access and pricing.

In the dairy sector, MILKFED operations will be fully digitalised through the implementation of an ERP system, enabling farmers to access real-time information via mobile phones. Livestock will also be integrated into a digital lifecycle platform.

Additionally, Rs 10.73 crore has been allocated for dairy development across key districts. The government also announced an Agriculture Loan Interest Subvention Scheme, with a Rs 50 crore outlay, to support distressed farmers through a one-time settlement mechanism.
