Haryana State Cooperative Sugar Mills would crush about 331 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the crushing session 2015-16 and achieve sugar recovery of 9.5 per cent on an average, says Press Trust of India.

During the year 2014-15, the cooperative sugar mills of the state had crushed 320.02 lakh quintals of sugarcane.

Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation Bikram Singh Yadav has said special emphasis is being laid on making  cooperative sugar mills and other cooperative institutions profitable.

The minister said sugar industry is going through recession in the entire world. Keeping this in view, a sum of Rs 586 crore has been provided to cooperative and private sugar mills in the State so that they do not face problem in making payments to sugarcane growers.
