Haryana Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma, chaired a review meeting of the Haryana State Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation on Wednesday at the Committee Room of the Haryana Civil Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Minister announced that plants for converting bagasse into gitti (granules) will be established in the state’s seven cooperative sugar mills under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
He emphasized the need to ensure online monitoring and proper marking of sugar bags to maintain transparency in operations.
Sharma appreciated the timely disbursement of Rs 1,210 crore to sugarcane farmers, ensuring 100% payment to cane growers. He noted that this step has strengthened farmers’ trust in cooperative sugar mills.
Expressing concern over the declining area under sugarcane cultivation, the Minister directed the General Managers of cooperative sugar mills to interact directly with farmers in the field, especially long-time cane growers, to motivate them to expand sugarcane production.
