Governor CH Vijayashankar inaugurated Meghalaya’s first co-operative exhibition at Raj Bhavan, praising the sector’s crucial role in state development.
He noted that co-operatives have grown from 950 in the 1970s to over 3,300 today, with nearly three lakh members.
Stalls showcased local goods, some selling out on day one. Calling co-operatives the backbone of rural progress, he lauded initiatives like the Piggery and Milk Missions, highlighted their role in Viksit Bharat 2047, and urged collaboration to build resilient, self-reliant communities.
