Goyal lauds NAFED & NCCF roles in price stabilization

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal said that Nafed and NCCF are putting heart and soul into helping the GOI ensure the welfare of ordinary consumers.

He said this while talking to journalists in a program organized for flagging off 100 mobile vans for the sale of wheat flour (Atta) under ‘Bharat’ brand from Kartavya Path, New Delhi on Monday.

Goyal lauded the role of Nafed, NCCF and other mobile outlets for helping the centre in stabilizing the prices of essential commodities. “Earlier, also both the cooperative organizations played an important role in making tomato available to the consumer at affordable prices”, said the Union Minister.

Meanwhile, talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent, NCCF MD Anice Joseph said, “We are working hard to provide the essential items to the consumers at subsidized rates. At present, NCCF is selling items, like Onion, Chana Dal, Bharat Atta from 600 mobile vans and providing them in 21 states from Jammu & Kashmir to Kerala”.

On the sidelines of the event, Nafed MD Ritesh Chauhan said, “We are selling the essential commodities through 614 mobile vans in 171 cities of the country. Now, the Bharat Aatta will be available to the consumer at the rate of Rs 27.50kg from the Nafed mobile vans.
