Govt raises Commission for Wheat, Paddy Procurement
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Government of India has approved a revision in commission rates paid to Arthiyas and cooperative societies involved in procuring wheat and paddy on its behalf, with the new rates set to take effect from the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27.

The decision follows demands from several state governments seeking higher compensation for intermediaries engaged in procurement operations. A sub-committee comprising representatives from the Food Corporation of India (FCI), state governments, and the Department of Food and Public Distribution reviewed existing rates and recommended an upward revision.

Under the revised structure, commission for Arthiyas procuring wheat in Punjab and Haryana will rise to ?50.75 per quintal, while in Rajasthan it will increase to ?45.67. For paddy, rates have been raised to ?50.61 per quintal.

Cooperative societies will also benefit, with wheat procurement commission increased to ?29.79 per quintal and paddy to ?35.30.

The move aims to sustain efficiency in procurement operations while supporting agencies facilitating aggregation and delivery within the public procurement system.
