Gold out of Garbage initiative in dairy sector

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that under the visionary theme of “Gold Out of Garbage”, the government is committed to transforming waste into wealth in the dairy sector.

As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Cooperation will establish three new multi-state cooperative societies to promote sustainability and circularity in the dairy value chain.

The first will focus on the production of animal feed, disease control, and artificial insemination, enhancing animal health and dairy productivity.

The second will manage cow and buffalo dung scientifically to support renewable energy generation and organic farming.

The third will ensure zero waste by utilizing hides, bones, and horns from dead cattle to produce value-added goods and boost rural income.

On March 3, 2025, Amit Shah inaugurated a national workshop on “Sustainability and Circularity in the Dairy Sector”, a key component of White Revolution 2.0. The strategy promotes climate-smart practices, efficient resource use, and low-emission, income-generating models for India’s dairy cooperatives.
