Narrating an interesting episode during the 55th AGM at Bharat Mandapam, Dileep Sanghani said that rising gold prices had created doubts among RGB members regarding the customary 5-gram gold coin distributed during the AGM.
There were whispers and murmurs that the sharp rise in global gold prices might persuade the Board to do away with the long-standing tradition.
“When the Board met, we brainstormed on the issue and, in light of the unprecedented profits, decided to spring a surprise on the members,” Sanghani said.
The IFFCO Board eventually decided to double the gold gift from 5 grams to 10 grams for each member.
The announcement by the Chairman was greeted with loud cheers and roaring applause from the RGB members present in large numbers at the auditorium.
