Goa Urban Co-op Bank: Voting on January 6
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) has decided to conduct an election to fill two vacant posts on the board of directors of Goa Urban Cooperative Bank on January 6, TOI report says.

Officials said the last date for filing of nominations for the election is December 13.GUCB officials told that registrar Sanjiv Gadkar had initiated the process to conduct the poll.

The RCS initiated the election process after the SC, on September 21, dismissed the special leave petition filed by the RCS seeking Kuncalienker and Gaude be reinstated as directors. The HC set aside the appointment of Sonia and Gaude as directors on August 1. The RCS then appointed ex-MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker’s wife Sonia Kuncalienkar and Prabhu Dulo Gaude as directors to swing the board in Kamat’s favour, another source said. The matter was challenged in the high court of Bombay at Goa and Supreme Court with both rulings favouring the Gaunekar panel.

Sources said the Anil Gaunekar panel and Govind Kamat panel have planned to field candidates.
