An online news outlet Goa.com reports Cooperation Minister Mahadev Naik said the state govt will give Rs 5 crore grants to cooperative societies that have completed tenure of 50 years. The minister added there are about 127 well functioning cooperative societies in Goa.
The minister also disclosed the state govt will give one time grant of Rs 20,000 to self-help groups in Goa.
The Minister was addressing the press on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the first branch of the Cortalim Urban Cooperative Credit Society at Manxer Arvalle, Cortalim. Several cooperators and cooperative officials were present on the occasion.
The Parish Priest of Cortalim Fr Diago Fernandes blessed the newly opened CUCCSL. The registrar of cooperative societies Sawant, assistant registrar of cooperative societies Desai, former minister and the chairman of Quepem Urban Cooperative Credit Society Velip, CAC panch member Saldanha spoke on the occasion.
