Goa Dairy managing director N C Sawant is quoted saying he had been asked by the registrar of cooperative societies to remove Sahakari’s name from the Goa dairy’s electoral list, following objections raised by a leading milk producer from Curtorim, Ramesh Naik, who is also the chairman of the Curtorim Dairy Society, reports Times of India.
Naik challenged the inclusion of Sahakari’s name on the basis that Sahakari was disqualified from another cooperative society from Ponda and “a person disqualified from a cooperative society cannot be a member of another society”.
With the removal of his name from the electoral list, the cooperator would not be able to exercise his voting right in the election to be held early next year.
