Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced the state’s first pumped storage hydropower project via the cooperative sector with a Rs 1,008 crore investment and 240 MW capacity.
The MoU was signed with Warana Group’s cooperative at Vidhan Bhavan. The project, to be set up at Tillari under the PPP model, will use Kodali and Kendre dams and generate 300 jobs.
Fadnavis said 16 such MoUs have been signed, targeting 1 lakh MW. Maharashtra plans Rs 1 lakh crore investment in transmission by 2035, with pumped storage playing a key role in renewable energy goals.
