Farmers resist Co-op bank’s diktat in MP

Farmers in Sironj in Madhya Pradesh are angered by cooperative societies insisting they have to open their accounts in cooperative banks before they could sell their produce on support price, reports FP News Service.

The farmers of the area have called upon the local authorities to stop cooperative societies from doing so. According to informed sources, cooperative societies are unreasonably arguing that account in cooperative banks is necessary for their registration.

Farmers already having accounts in other banks have dug in their heels and refused to accept cooperative societies’ argument.
