Faridkot District Co-op Bank employees on strike

Due to the overload of work, employees of Faridkot District Cooperative Bank went on strike on Monday demanding recruitment of staff-members to the burdened bank.

There are more than 40 vacancies but the concerned authorities are hardly concerned, the protestors charged. The dwindling work force is put to address all the rising work-load, they complained.

Punjab government is planning to strengthen the district cooperatives banks by merging them with state cooperative bank but the government is not bothered about the concern of these banks, they complained.

The employees of the DCCB have also submitted charter of demands to the management many times in the past but to no avail. “Due to lack of staffs in bank we are facing the problem of tremendous workload and we are not able to service the customers properly”, said one of the protestors.

The employees of head office and that of its 24 branches were on strike. They held a protest-march in front of head office.

The employees have warned that if their demand is not fulfilled sooner than later, they will hold a much stronger protest-march across the district.
