Maharashtra opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis and some other BJP lawmakers called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to discuss the plight of Maharashtra sugar mill owners ahead of the crushing season, reports Indian Express.
Earlier also the BJP leaning sugar barons have urged the center to tackle the difficulties facing the sugar sector in the state.
The delegation is supposed to have sought restricting of loans and government guarantees for sugar mills that are “financially weaker or negative worth. They also sought the Center’s help in restructuring loans for sugar mills.
