Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called for a strong focus on environmental conservation and tree plantation while implementing activities under the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
He directed that all initiatives should be carried out with the active participation and support of various cooperative institutions across the state.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review the planning of upcoming programs on Monday in Mumbai, CM Fadnavis instructed that departments such as Cooperation, Agriculture, Marketing, Dairy Development, Food and Civil Supplies, Rural Development, Fisheries, and Non-Conventional Energy must coordinate effectively to organize well-structured events throughout the year.
He emphasized that information about all the planned activities must reach the masses through wide dissemination.
Highlighting the need for sustainability, the Chief Minister said, “Each program under the International Year of Cooperatives should be linked with tree plantation drives to promote environmental consciousness.”
Further, he announced the extension of the deadline for submitting nominations for the Cooperative Awards 2025. “The last date for cooperative institutions to submit proposals has been extended from July 18 to July 31,” he informed.
The meeting was attended by Cooperative Minister Babasaheb Patil, Agriculture Minister Adv. Manikrao Kokate, Environment and Climate Change & Animal Husbandry Minister Pankaja Munde, OBC Welfare Minister Atul Save, Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore, Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of State for Cooperation Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, among other senior officials.
