Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M. Sudheeran has directed Kannur DCC president K. Surendran to withdraw the suspension order he had served on DCC general secretary Shahul Hameed following a dispute over the control of the Pallikunnu Service Cooperative Bank. The matter was reported in the local edition of the daily The Hindu.
The bank controlled by the Congress is caught in factional fights. Sources close to the Kerala Congress say Mr. Sudheeran had issued his directive on the ground that the DCC president did not have the power to issue suspension order. Mr. Sudheeran had also appointed a committee to probe the cooperative bank issue.
Thanks to the factional warfare, the service cooperative bank may even go out of existence soon , remarked a local cooperator on anonymity .
