Considering a huge exodus of young men from farming to cities for better employment opportunities, GCMMF, with the help of the State government, is making efforts to popularize commercial dairy farming among rural youth, media reports say.

The Gujarat cooperative is carrying out the government scheme cattle rearing the ” 12 cattle scheme” that provides an earning potential of ?35,000-40,000 a month for a family.

The just rolled out scheme is expected to attract rural youth, say sources familiar with this scheme. Initially 5000 families are likely to be covered but some govt. officials associated with the scheme hint at hassles applicants may face in getting loans from various banks.
