With the Kerala assembly election nearing, Education Minister and Nemom MLA V. Sivankutty has intensified outreach to calm hundreds of investors affected by the Nemom Service Cooperative Society financial scam, which saw irregularities exceeding Rs 100 crore under long-standing CPM control, media reports say.
Sources say Sivankutty will host an investor convention in Nemom on January 20 as part of efforts to win back trust, amid speculation he may again contest the seat.
The party has also sought state funding of Rs 15 crore to aid partial repayment to depositors, while local CPM leaders urge removal of anti-party stickers at the cooperative to improve voter sentiment ahead of the polls.
