The State Department of Handlooms and Textiles in Tamil Nadu has launched a new e-Commerce site aimed at enabling individual Handloom Weavers’ cooperative societies to sell their products online, reports New Indian Express.
Officials say the new site will make it possible for the govt. to market its Loom World concept – a concept that has yet to get popular. The department is already in talks with known sites like flipkart and snap Deal to hasten expansion of the concept through digitilisation , officials claim.
Sources are quoted as saying the special handloom expo 2016 that has already begun in Madurai will continue until almost mid January. The expo is likely to add up over 10 crore in revenue, say sources.
