The Department of Fisheries (DoF) reviewed the action taken on key initiatives in the cooperative sector at a meeting chaired by Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Government of India.
The review focused on promoting fisheries cooperative societies across large dams and reservoirs, strengthening cooperative participation in deep-sea fishing, enhancing training and capacity building of fishermen and vessel management, and reviewing fisheries cooperative projects in Puducherry.
Presentations were made by Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary (Inland Fisheries); Ms. Neetu Kumari Prasad, Joint Secretary (Marine Fisheries); and Dr. B. K. Behara, Chief Executive, National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).
Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Managing Director, National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), attended the meeting along with representatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, Dr. D. Manikandan, Secretary, Puducherry, and senior officers of the Department of Fisheries in hybrid mode.
