Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann felicitated Dhuri cooperative societies for achieving over 99% loan recovery, setting a state benchmark, media reports say.
Celebrating this success during the International Year of Cooperation, Mann emphasized revitalizing the cooperative sector for farmers’ welfare. He urged farmers to bank with cooperative institutions, which offer lower interest rates, and avoid falling for myths against them.
Highlighting state subsidies on shared farm equipment, Mann promoted custom hiring to reduce farming costs. He also advocated simple weddings to prevent farmers from falling into debt. Commending girls’ academic success, he credited improved public education.
