The majority of directors belonging to the outgoing board were unanimously reelected to the board of directors of Mumbai based credit-co-operative Dharavi Sahakari Patpedhi Maryadit. The elections were held last week.

The elections were held under the leadership of outgoing Chairman Adv. Pradip Kadam. The board consists of 13 directors out of which 5 are newcomers and the rest old hands.

Soon after the elections, talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent Kadam said, “Our team has been elected unanimously. We will work together to take the society to newer heights”.

“The society has five branches across Mumbai and we will focus on disbursing group loans. We are continuously working to cater to the financial needs of people living in slum areas especially Dharavi, one of the largest slum clusters in the world”, he said.

Established in 1986 with a business mix of Rs 36k with 250 members, the credit coop today proudly claims to have a turnover of about Rs 37 crore. The society has 17k shareholders out of which 13k are women.

The credit society started the group loan scheme four years back and it proved to be a good scheme for the poor people of the society.

The elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be held soon.
