The Office of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has initiated winding-up proceedings against three multi-state cooperative credit societies following complaints of non-repayment of deposits, non-compliance with Cooperative Ombudsman orders, and failure to file mandatory statutory returns.
The societies facing action are Unique Swayam Multi State Multi Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd., Shree Sarneshwar Credit Co-operative Society Ltd. and Wishvaas Credit Cooperative Society Ltd..
According to notices issued by Central Registrar Anand Kumar Jha, all three societies failed to comply with orders of the Cooperative Ombudsman directing them to refund deposits to members.
The societies also allegedly defaulted in filing mandatory annual returns under Section 120 of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002.
The CRCS noted that repeated opportunities were given to the societies to present their case through virtual hearings held between October 2025 and February 2026. However, no authorized representatives appeared before the authority.
The societies have been given 15 days to submit objections, failing which further action will be taken to wind them up under the provisions of the MSCS Act, 2002.
