Delhi Consumer’s Cooperative Wholesale store (DCCWS) has handed over a cheque of Rs 9.51 lakhs to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the Kerala Flood Relief Fund at the Delhi Secretariat this week. Kapil Bhardwaj- Chairman of Delhi Consumer’s Cooperative Wholesale Store personally handed over the cheque to Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Talking to this correspondent on the phone, Chairman Kapil Bhardwaj informed, “Earlier Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had appealed to the public to make donations for Kerala flood victims and we have donated this amount in response to the chief minister’s appeal.
“It’s just a beginning we are also making efforts to provide essentials to the flood victims in Kerala in the coming days. As far as I know, DCCWS has for first time in the history of the society contributed money for helping the victims of a natural disaster”, he said.
All AAP MPs, MLAs and ministers have also donated their one month salary for the relief work. Saurabh Bharadwaj, MLA of Greater Kailash, has committed to donate Rs 53,500 while MLA of Jangpura Praveen Kumar has asked Delhi Speaker if he could donate Rs 1 crore from his MLA local area development fund.
Its bears recall that earlier Kerala based labour cooperative ULCCS and fertilizer cooperative IFFCO had given cheques towards the Kerala CM relief fund.
Delhi Consumer’s Cooperative Wholesale store was set up in 1962 for supplying consumer goods to its affiliated Primary Consumer Cooperative Stores functioning in various parts of the metropolis. The society has scores of branches across Delhi.
