In the Delhi Budget presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, the outlay for the cooperative sector has been increased to Rs 263.60 crore for 2026–27, up from Rs 205.80 crore in 2025–26, signalling a stronger disbursement push aimed at supporting and stabilising cooperative institutions across the national capital.
The enhanced allocation is expected to primarily boost operational funding and administrative support for cooperative societies, including credit and multipurpose cooperatives, reinforcing their role in grassroots financial inclusion and service delivery.
In a parallel move to support the rural and agricultural ecosystem linked to cooperatives, the government has also announced a provision of Rs 4.85 crore under the ‘PM Kisan Samman Nidhi State Top-up Scheme’. Under this scheme, farmers will receive an additional Rs 3,000 annually in three instalments of Rs 1,000 each, over and above the Rs 6,000 provided under the central Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.
The combined push reflects a dual strategy, strengthening cooperative institutions through higher disbursement while directly enhancing farmers’ income support.
