On the occasion of the 65th Annual General Meeting of Nafed delegates sought the Nafed management’s help in resolving their issues.
One of the delegates from Rajasthan, Ganpat Ram raised the issue of delay of surveyor in the warehouses. Whereas a delegate from Madhya Pradesh stressed on giving the major part of procurement to member societies associated with the Nafed.
The issues like FPOs becoming a problem for primary level cooperative societies, lack of surveyors in warehouses, increment in the allowances given to the delegates, and giving procurement work to primary level co-ops echoed in the meeting.
While giving the reply to the question raised by a delegate from Madhya Pradesh, Nafed MD Rajbir Singh said, the state governments may decide to whom the work of procurement will be given. The agri co-operative Nafed can only recommend names of member societies connected with them but can’t assign the procurement work directly.
Another delegate from Bihar Ram Kalevar Singh demanded an increment in travel allowances and hospitality expenses. One of the delegates said, the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) is becoming a cancer for primary level cooperative societies. There is a need to focus on this also”, he added.
The hall was packed with cooperators who came from across the country to attend the AGM.
During 2021-22 Nafed has achieved a turnover of Rs 19,752 crores with a net profit of Rs 139 crores and did a spectacular work in the procurement of Urad, groundnut, Tur, Moong and others crops.
