Dairy co-ops to be modernized in TN

jayalalithaTamil Nadu chief minister J.Jailalitha recently told the state assembly the state govt would undertake infrastructural and technological modernization of dairy cooperatives across the state at a cost of Rs. 35.77 crore.

The modernization drive will cover places such as Salem, Erode, Villupuram, Vellore and Coimbatore, Jailalitha said. The modernization effort will benefit 2.26 crore milk producers and 5.13 lakh consumers, she said.

The cattle feed production unit at Erode milk union will be upgraded and expanded at a cost of ?10.73 crore to produce 150 tonnes of feed daily. This will benefit 4.29 crore dairy farmer members, chief minister claimed.

The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation procures over 23.22 lakh litres of milk daily, Jailalitha said.
