Maharashtra government has offered to subsidize productions of milk and milk powder, reports DNA. This subsidy will be available for three months and its extension will be contingent on response from the farmers.

The co-operative milk federations and private milk supplying firms who will receive the subsidy will be required to transfer the subsidy amount straight into the farmer’s bank accounts.

As per the govt. announcement, the subsidy of Rs 50 will be given per kg milk powder and Rs 5 per litre milk production

Farmers from various parts of Maharashtra had earlier protested by blocking roads, spilling milk on highways. Swabhimani Shetkari Sangsthna was leading the farmers’ protest for an increase in the price of milk.
