The Union Ministry of Cooperation on Tuesday said in an official post on X (formerly Twitter) that, to advance the spirit of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” dairy and fisheries cooperative societies will become Bank Mitras of District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and State Cooperative Banks (STCBs), ensuring easier and more transparent access to financial services.
With NABARD’s support, the Ministry has initiated a transformative effort to link cooperative societies with cooperative banks, aiming to deliver formal financial services directly to citizens’ doorsteps.
“As Bank Mitras, cooperative societies will play a key role in ensuring accessible, inclusive, and transparent banking in rural and semi-urban areas,” the Ministry said in its post.
The Ministry further informed that 12,580 Micro-ATMs have so far been distributed to Bank Mitra Cooperative Societies in Gujarat, terming it a major step toward deepening financial inclusion and strengthening cooperative banking.
