Hackers breached the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank’s security system on Saturday, attempting to steal Rs 146 crore, reports a media outlet. However, alert bank officials swiftly blocked the transaction, securing most of the funds.
The cybercrime police have launched an investigation, with a former bank employee emerging as a suspect. CCTV footage captured the ex-employee entering the bank with an unknown individual and tampering with the system.
Investigators found that two employees’ IDs were used in the transfer. Police are questioning staff and probing multiple angles to uncover the full extent of the cyber fraud.
