Customers first: Varachha Co-op Bank holds review meeting

Surat based Varachha Co-operative Bank organized a review meeting with customers and the officers of the committee appointed by the Reserve Bank of India to improve the services provided by the bank to the customers. It was done at the Sarthana branch of Varachha Bank.

Whether or not the bank’s customers are getting services as per the customer service norms laid down by RBI? The meeting sought to find out inconveniences faced by customers and provide necessary suggestions.

 The Officers of RBI’s “Review of Customer Service Standards” Committee, Former Deputy Governor of RBI Mr. B.P.Kanungo, Executive Director of RBI Mr.A. K.Sharma, Honorable Secretary of All India Bank Depositors Association Dr. Amitha Seghal, RBI-Ombudsman Chief General Manager of Ahmedabad, Mrs. Sara Rajendra Kumar and General Manager Mrs. Devika Gaurishankar and General Manager of CEPD Mr Anand attended the meeting at VarachhaBank.

In the meeting, the committee members got information about services and queries received from customers from cooperative banks, private banks and government banks and their suggestions were noted.

Representatives of other banks were also present in the meeting, in which officials received instructions from NAFCUB Director Mr Gautambhai Vyas, Mr. Natubhai, Mr. Kiritbhai Patel and Mr. Deepakbhai Soni from Akhand Anand Co-op Bank, Rakeshbhai Desai from Surat Mercantile Co-op Bank. RBI’s committee members favoured a positive approach in providing better services by making necessary changes in the RBI guidelines.

 The late Brijeshbhai Patel who died was insured under Varachha Bank’s Accident Insurance Scheme. His heir, Chandniben Patel, received the insurance cheque for the amount of Rs.5 lakhs, which was handed over by the RBI officials. The late Brijeshbhai had a savings account, a loan account and was a shareholder of Varachha Bank.

All those present in the meeting were welcomed by Bhavanbhai Nawapara, the Chairman of Varachha Bank, and the General Manager of the Bank. Vitthalbhai Dhanani proposed a vote of thanks.
