The cooperative sector in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh is witnessing improved credit flow and institutional strengthening, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Highlighting progress, Shah said the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio of the Moradabad District Central Cooperative Bank has risen significantly from 61.25 in March 2023 to 85.43 in March 2025, indicating better access to institutional finance for farmers, artisans and micro-entrepreneurs.

He said over 130 initiatives launched by the Ministry of Cooperation are strengthening grassroots cooperatives and promoting a cooperative-led economic model in the region.

In terms of credit disbursement, the bank extended Rs 217.5 crore in 2024, Rs 271.87 crore in 2025 and Rs 289 crore so far in 2026 to farmers, including small and marginal ones. Schemes such as Kisan Credit Card, PM SVANidhi and PM Vishwakarma are also supporting livelihoods.

Additionally, 11 new multipurpose PACS have been formed in the district, including four in Thakurdwara tehsil, to enhance timely credit access and expand cooperative services.
