A couple together with some friends formed ”Lakshay Multipurpose Cooperative Society” in Bathinda, Punjab and cheated a person of his Rs 5 lakh.
After investigation, police have registered a case and have taken action against the accused couple along with three other persons.
The ostensible purpose of the cooperative society was to help poor farmers with fertiliser, seeds, pesticide, machines and advice about improving their farming.
But the society soon abandoned its proclaimed objective and began swindling money.
