Cosmos Bank heist: One more nabbed

Mohan Lal Rathod is the latest accused arrested by Cyber Police in Cosmos Bank heist that rocked the urban cooperative bank sector recently. Rathod, along with two more took more than Rs 3 lakh from a Mumbai ATM.

The CCTV grab of the ATM exposed the face of Rathod, who admitted his crime after sustained grueling by police. It bears recall that the cooperative bank lodged an FIR saying Rs 80.5 crore were initially transferred to a foreign bank in 14,849 transactions of the debit card, and another Rs 13.9 crore transferred in a SWIFT transaction.

UCB’s top guns including its Chairman Milind Kale had been requesting shareholders to have faith as the Bank tried its best to come out of the tragedy. Its efforts seem to have paid off as shareholders remained stuck to the bank and displayed enormous faith in the bank.

In its bid to boost confidence of its customers and depositors, Cosmos bank held a region-wise get-together. “Depositors are important stakeholders of the bank. They play a crucial role in the development of the bank. Hence their suggestions matter a lot”, said Bank chairman, CA Milind Kale highlighting the importance of such interaction.

The get-together conversation centred around a very detailed discussion on the topics of depositors’ interests like digital banking, passbook printing kiosks, service charges, training and cyber security.
