The election process of the Cooperative Bank of India (COBI) is underway with the voting slated for June 15. Meanwhile, some of the candidates have been elected unopposed.
Those elected unopposed include G H Amin, Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Bijender Singh, Vishal Singh, Chandrasekhar from sugar federation and Cosmos Bank Chairman Milind Kale, among others.
Congratulating Kale, the Cosmos Bank tweeted “ The Cosmos family congratulates Chairman CA Milind Kale on his unanimous election as Director of Co-operative Banks of India (COBI), New Delhi. This is a proud moment for all of us.”
According to informed sources, there may be no voting, as following the cooperative tradition of consensus, most of the names could be finalized by 6-7 June. Today is the last day of withdrawal.
Amin, who has been heading COBI so far, may not be the Chairman this time owing to the MSCS Act 2002 which prohibits anyone from occupying the top post for more than two terms at one go.
It bears recalling that the Cooperative Bank of India was established in 1993 based on the recommendation of the High level Agricultural Credit Review Committee under the chairmanship of Prof AM Khusro.
