Co-ops take a plunge in transport business

As a landmark in the field of city transportation in Kerala, All Kerala Bus Operators Forum (AKBOF) will launch Kochi Metropolitan Transport Cooperative Society, reports Times of India.

Earlier, a co-operative transport society was launched in Delhi in the name of “Chal dhanno”.

The Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL), which has opened the Metro stretch from Aluva to Maharaja’s College ground, is now busy bringing private buses operating along the Metro corridor under co-operative societies.

These new co operative societies will help to curb competition between buses and hence help to control speeding and rash driving.
