Co-operatives to matter in Maha Lok Sabha elections

Just hours before the enforcement of the model code of conduct for the impending Lok Sabha elections, the government stepped in to provide assurance for loans totaling Rs 1,898 crore sought by 13 sugar factories in northern, western Maharashtra, and Marathwada regions, report the HT.

Constituencies heavily influenced by the cooperative sector, such as Pune, Baramati, Shirur, and others, are pivotal battlegrounds in the upcoming elections.

The political landscape, already stirred by Pawar’s inclusion as deputy chief minister, anticipates a fierce electoral showdown between the Mahayuti alliance comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and the opposition trio of Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP), and Congress.
