Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, former government nominee of NAFCUB, noted industrialist and former Chairman of Nagpur Nagarik Sahakari Bank, Ramesh Mantri, passed away on Monday at the age of 73. His demise has cast a pall of gloom across political, cooperative and industrial circles in Vidarbha.
Widely respected as an entrepreneur and cooperative leader, Mantri was known for his strong commitment to social service, cooperative values and regional development. He played an active role in strengthening the BJP organisation in the Vidarbha region and was regarded as a dedicated grassroots leader.
Leaders from the cooperative sector and the BJP expressed profound grief and paid heartfelt tributes, stating that his contribution to public life and the cooperative movement would be remembered for years.
Expressing his condolences, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he was deeply saddened by the passing of the senior BJP leader and former Chairman of Nagpur Nagarik Sahakari Bank. He noted Mantri’s immense contribution to Nagpur’s social, economic and cooperative sectors and recalled working closely with him during his tenure as an MLA, calling his demise a major loss to the city.
The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and stood in solidarity with them during this hour of grief.
