Angered by irregularities in paddy procurement, farmers of Bahanaga block in Balasore district in Odisha not only closed and locked up Alada Service Cooperative Society but also tied the society’s president to a tree, reports Odishatv.in.
Farmers complain that while the cooperative society was supposed to procure 18,000 quintals of paddy but it only procured a paltry 4,000 quintals.
Farmers have warned that if the stipulated amount of the paddy is not procured they would continue with their protest.
