A petition filed in the Gujarat High Court about mismanagement of the MP Local Area Development Scheme funds by Smriti Irani also mentions about a cooperative agency that was awarded the contract under the scheme without keeping the district collector in the loop, reports Indian Express.
Sharda Majoor Kamdar Mandali, a cooperative society of construction labourers is named as the agency which was given contract by the PA of Irani. The petition alleges that most of the members of this co-op society belong to BJP.
The matter came up for hearing in the court on Wednesday. The allegation boils down to a simple charge – Irani has misused public funds during her previous term in 2011-2017.
As a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat, Irani had adopted Anand as the nodal district for her MPLADS funds.
