The Padma Award Panel of the NDA govt may have failed to confer the Padma Award on a deserving candidate in IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi yet, the govt TV channel catering to agri-needs of farm and farmers has, however, paid glowing tributes to IFFCO in general and Dr U S Awasthi in particular.
The programe titled ”Pillars of Cooperative” on DD Kisan channel lists various activities started by Dr Awasthi for the upliftment of the farming community. Some of these such as soil-testing and emphasis on organic farming were later taken up by the agriculture ministry as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had evinced personal interest in them.
Awasthi, farm-watchers say, was a harbinger of many new initiatives in the farm-sector.
After watching the live show on TV which was dedicated to IFFCO and its MD, a humble Awasthi tweeted in Hindi “I am obliged to DD National’s DD Kisan channel for airing a short film depicting my work and experiences in the programme titled pillars of co-operative.”
