Co-op Monitor: Desi co-ops run away with top rankings

The fertilizer cooperative IFFCO and a dairy co-op giant GCMMF (Amul) have been ranked Number 1 and Number 2 cooperatives respectively among top 300 cooperatives in the world, according to the 2022 edition of the 11th Annual World Cooperative Monitor (WCM) report published by International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).

The ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. It signifies that IFFCO and Amul are contributing significantly to the GDP & economic growth of the Nation.

The third and fourth positions have been gained by France based Groupe Credit Agricole and Brazil based Sistema Unimed. Germany based Rewe Group secured the fifth position.

In the list of World Cooperative Monitor report 2022 published by ICA on Thursday, the second largest fertilizer cooperative of India-Kribhco has been ranked at Sixth position in the list of sector rankings.

In the Agriculture and Food Industries section, Kribhco has been named on the sixth position. This ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.

Kerala-based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) has been ranked at Second position in the list of Industry and Utilities Co-operatives in the sectoral rankings. ULCCS has been named just below Spain based Corporation Mondragon. This ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. ULCCS bagged the same position in 2018 and 2019.
