Co-op elections in TN: DMK cries foul

Tamil Nadu’s Salem west DMK secretary S R Sivalingam cried foul at the delay in releasing the voters’ list for cooperative elections saying it was a violation of democratic norms when the election had already been announced, reports Times of India.

Talking to journalists, he said as the ruling AIDMK members are involved in malpractices, the DMK would move the Madras High Court requesting a fresh election.

The election should be conducted in the state in four phases.

Talking about the 2013 cooperative election, the DMK secretary said the ruling party had then chosen cooperative association office bearers without going through the required electoral procedures.
