Co-op directors would be held responsible: Goa CM

Goa chief minister has expressed regret over the lack of professional competence in the cooperative movement warning this could ruin the cooperative sector in the state. Touching upon the subject in his budget speech, the chief minister blamed all ills of the cooperative movement on political interference and laxity on the part of the management of this sector, reports a local media oHeraldo.

The chief minister intends enforcing accountability through strict measures, holding the directors responsible for irregularities.

The Government, the chief minister said would take steps to infuse capital into banks, for which preliminary talks have been held with RBI and NABARD. The government plans to provide Rs. 20 crore in the budget
