Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently lauded the cooperation movement for its important contributions in the rapid growth of the country. The chief minister was addressing the International Cooperative Day function in Yamunanagar.

Haryana boasts a strong cooperative sector with as many as 28 thousand cooperative bodies claiming 50 lakh members, the chief minister said.

Several dignitaries including Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar presided and Haryana Cooperation minister Manish Kumar Grover attended the program.

News coming from West Bengal says that the chief minister Mamata Bannerjee has greeted cooperators by expressing her views on twitter on the occasion of International Cooperative Day.

Mamata said her govt has taken a number of steps to strengthen the cooperative movement in the state such as customer service points at cooperative societies in remote areas where no banks existed and provision of banking services through cooperatives in unbanked areas, reports Millenium Post.
