Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab has made notable strides in strengthening the cooperative sector in 2024. Cooperative banks are being upgraded with Rs 160 crore, set for completion by June 2025.
Key initiatives include a Rs 368 crore loan relief under the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, benefiting 8,453 cooperative bank defaulters.
Markfed is addressing storage needs by constructing warehouses with a capacity of 44,910 metric tons.
Additionally, efforts to promote Punjab’s Phulkari craft include collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Designing to provide training and financial aid to artisans.
