Co-op banks must fulfill RBI’s norms: Punjab Govt

Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Financial commissioner Cooperation Punjab held a review meeting with the Tarn Taran central cooperative bank and directed its management to meet all the normative parameters including maintenance of CRAR as stipulated by RBI and NABARD so it could offer without difficulty credit and other financial services to farmers, reports Punjab News Express.

Principal Secretary said over the last few years the state govt has infused capital to the tune of around Rs 200 crores in the cooperative banks to maintain their Capital Adequacy Ratio as mandated by RBI.

He has also directed Registrar Cooperative Societies Punjab and Special Secretary Cooperation to hold similar meetings with the Central Cooperative banks in all the remaining districts of state to comply with the agenda of Government.
