Co-op banks help out harassed consumer

In the wake of confusion arising out of the demonetizing high denomination currencies by the govt some of the cooperative banks have come forward to help out the harassed.

Govt had earlier asked hospitals and pharmacists to accept currencies of higher denomination till November 11 but many of them refused fearing running short of 100 notes.

”Our concern is real, we have very few hundred rupee notes left here. If we start accepting the withdrawn notes and return money of lesser denomination, we will have to shut the store by 12 in the noon, said many pharmacists.”

Faced with the problem, Thrissur co-operative bank as well as several others has asked medical stores not to refuse any customer. Accept the bigger notes and instead of paying back change, write the balance in the bill , it said quoted Hindu.

The district co-operative hospital authorities have also adopted the same method.
